John Edwards - First Impressions
By Bill | August 4, 2007 | Email This Post
John Edwards
Current Job: No idea (Presidential candidate.)
Former Job: Senator from North Carolina; before that, a trial lawyer.
Presidential history: Ran in 2004, eventually becoming the vice-presidential candidate on the Democratic ticket.
Book (if you’re running for President, they make you write a book): Ending Poverty in America: How to Restore the American Dream (okay, I had to look this one up…)
Issues I think John Edwards cares about:
- The war on poverty
- Health care
- Global warming
Interesting facts I remember:
- His wife, Elizabeth, is a victim of breast cancer.
Things I like about John Edwards
- I don’t know the specifics of how he proposes to end poverty; I think I agree, however, with the basic position that relative levels of poverty are a major problem facing American today.
Things I don’t like about John Edwards:
I really thought I liked Edwards in 2004; I’m sort of glad he didn’t win, however; the more I watch him, the more I find myself not trusting him. This may be a visceral reaction to the personal style he developed during his ambulance-chaser days.
(The First Impressions post for each candidate is where they’re starting out with me. What I know, or at least think I know about them, basically any starting impressions I’ve formed that they have to live up to or overcome. Sometimes it’s pretty sparse. Sometimes it may be outright incorrect. No fact checking has taken place on First Impressions posts.)
